South Florida Business Journal's 2009 CFO Awards
Frederick A. Colandreo
CFO, Current Builders
Frederick "Rick" Colandreo started with Current Builders in 1996 and has been instrumental in ensuring its
financial success. His CPA license, degrees in both accounting and international business, and his "Big 6"
experience have laid the groundwork for the company's growth. For 12 years, he has been the leading financial
shareholder, responsible for keeping the company running smoothly and growing through economic booms and
downturns.
Current Builders' financial results have stemmed from the construction of nearly $2 billion in construction
projects throughout Florida. The construction company had revenue of $120 million last year, up from $111
million in 2007, though down from $153 million in 2006.
Colandreo oversees all aspects of Current Builders' corporate finances, as well as a team of in-house account
managers who monitor and track every dollar of every construction project. He has been instrumental in
controlling costs, bringing in new types of work, and restructuring the company internally to prepare for
growth. He was the impetus behind developing a standard employee manual, policies and procedures, and an
organized corporate structure as the company grew.
In the near term, Colandreo defines success by the success of those he manages and works with. "I feel
successful when I see that our employees, who have assisted Current Builders in achieving its objectives, grow
and prosper, and are rewarded both professionally and financially in their careers," he said. |
